Braided Round Slings for Industrial Rigging

For lifting operations where load stability and controlled handling matter most, braided round slings provide a noticeable advantage over standard single round slings. Each sling is created by braiding several endless round slings together into a single, high-capacity unit.

This design spreads the weight across a much wider surface area, improving grip on the load while minimizing load movement and rotation. Capable of delivering Working Load Limits comparable to heavy steel wire rope, braided round slings achieve massive capacities at a fraction of the weight, protecting both your rigging crew and your load's delicate surfaces.

Key Benefits of Braided Round Slings

Holloway Lifting Braided Round Slings provide functional advantages that support safe and efficient heavy industrial rigging:

Engineered Safety (Redundancy)Engineered Safety (Redundancy)

Engineered Safety (Redundancy)

The multi-part braided design provides inherent redundancy. Should one of the component slings suffer damage during a lift, the remaining interwoven slings act as a fail-safe to help support the load.

Load StabilityLoad Stability

Load Stability

The wide, flat body of the braid offers a superior grip and a more stable lift compared to single round slings, especially for large-diameter, cylindrical, or oddly shaped loads.

High Strength-to-Weight RatioHigh Strength-to-Weight Ratio

High Strength-to-Weight Ratio

Provides lifting capacities comparable to steel wire rope slings but at a fraction of the weight, reducing rigger fatigue and making them easier to handle, transport, and rig.

Non-Marring Surface ContactNon-Marring Surface Contact

Non-Marring Surface Contact

Made from 100% high-tenacity polyester, these slings are soft and conform closely to the shape of the load, minimizing the risk of crushing or scratching sensitive surfaces.

Post-Project VersatilityPost-Project Versatility

Post-Project Versatility

Unlike permanent assemblies, braided round slings can be disassembled after a lift. The component slings can be separated, re-inspected, and used individually, providing exceptional long-term value.

Rotatable Wear Points Rotatable Wear Points

Rotatable Wear Points

The hook and load contact points can be rotated with every lift, significantly extending the service life of the sling.

Design & Engineering Considerations

Braided round slings perform best when paired with hardware that maximizes their efficiency. Proper selection of connection points is critical to prevent fiber damage.

  • Connection Hardware : Ensure the crane hook or shackle pin is wide enough to accommodate the full braided eye without bunching or crimping the fibers, which can severely reduce capacity.
  • Edge Protection : The high capacities of braided slings mean they are used on massive loads. Always use wear pads or corner guards, as synthetic fibers will cut under extreme tension if exposed to sharp edges.

Environmental Awareness

  • Temperature : Polyester is rated for continuous use between -40°F and 194°F (-40°C to 90°C).
  • Chemicals : Resistant to common acids and bleaching agents but can be degraded by concentrated alkalis (ethers/strong soaps).
  • UV Exposure : Store away from direct sunlight to prevent long-term strength loss.

Braided Round Sling Product Types

Holloway Houston manufactures two primary braided configurations to meet varying heavy-lift needs. Both are produced in-house with strict quality control.

6-Part Braided Roundslings (HH6BR) Holloway Houston6-Part Braided Roundslings (HH6BR) Holloway Houston

6-Part Braided Roundslings (HH6BR)

Created by precisely braiding three endless round slings together.
Application : Excellent for vertical, choker, or basket hitches requiring a broad, flat body to keep the load in place.
Advantage : Balances massive strength with handling ease, making it suitable for demanding lifts without adding unnecessary weight.

8-Part Braided Roundslings (HH8BR) Holloway Houston8-Part Braided Roundslings (HH8BR) Holloway Houston

8-Part Braided Roundslings (HH8BR)

Engineered by braiding four endless round slings into a dense, robust lifting unit.
Application : Designed for maximum capacity for the heaviest and most demanding lifts in industrial and offshore environments.
Advantage : The dense 8-part braid spreads stress evenly, minimizing point-loading and offering superior resistance to abrasion and external wear.

Holloway Houston’s braided round slings are not outsourced; they are fabricated in our Houston, Texas facility to make sure consistent quality and rapid availability.

Full In-House Fabrication

Proven Manufacturing Expertise

We fabricate our braided slings in-house, adhering to strict tensioning and braiding processes to ensure that all component slings share the load equally during a lift.

High-Quality Materials

Proof Tested and Fully Traceable

Every braided assembly is proof tested to 200% of its vertical Working Load Limit and tagged with a unique serial number for complete manufacturing traceability.

Rigorous Testing

Protective Eye Wraps

The eyes of the braided sling are wrapped with an extra layer of abrasion-resistant polyester to extend their lifespan at the critical hardware connection points.

Traceability and Certification

Precision Length and Capacity Configuration

If standard configurations don't meet your needs, our team manufactures custom braided sling solutions tailored to specific lengths and capacities with industry-leading lead times.

Inspection & Care Criteria

Per ASME B30.9 standards, braided round slings must be inspected before every lift. Because a braided sling is made of multiple individual slings, inspection requires close attention to the entire assembly.

Standards Met:

  • ASME B30.9 – Slings (Current Edition).
  • OSHA lifting and rigging regulations for workplace safety and inspection practices.
  • ISO 4878 — Textile slings — General safety requirements.
  • EN 1492-2 — European standard for textile round slings made from man-made fibers.
Remove-service-icon-

Remove from service immediately if:

Remove-service-icon-

Red Core Yarns are Visible: This indicates the protective cover has been breached on one or more component slings.

Remove-service-icon-

Missing Tag: Identification tag is illegible or missing.

Remove-service-icon-

Heat Damage: Evidence of melting, charring, or weld splatter.

Remove-service-icon-

Knots: The sling has been tied in a knot (this reduces capacity by up to 50%).

Remove-service-icon-

Chemical Damage: Fibers appear brittle, stiff, or discolored.
