Carcano Lifting Hooks & Links

When safety margins cannot be compromised, riggers turn to Carcano. Based in the steel-working heartland of Italy, Carcano S.P.A manufactures the Cartec line of premium rigging hardware. While standard Grade 80 components have been the norm for decades, Carcano specializes in Grade 100 alloy steel components, which provide 25% greater lifting capacity than Grade 80 in a lighter, more compact package.

Holloway Houston Inc. stocks a comprehensive range of Cartec hooks, connecting links, and master links. Whether you are assembling a lightweight chain sling for a machine shop or a heavy-duty bridle for steel erection, Carcano hardware delivers the certified performance and fatigue resistance required by ASME and European standards.

The Cartec Grade 100 Advantage

1. Connecting Links (CLX Series) The backbone of any chain sling assembly.

  • Design : The CLX is a "Hammerlock" style mechanical coupling link used to join chains to master links, hooks, or other fittings.
  • Capacity : We stock links ranging from 7/32" (3,000 lbs WLL) up to massive 1-1/4" links (90,400 lbs WLL).
  • Performance : Forged from alloy steel and Quenched & Tempered for maximum ductility.

2. Clevis Sling Hooks (CBX Series)

  • Integrated Latch : The CBX series features a heavy-duty forged latch that seats securely into the hook tip. This prevents the latch from snagging or bending during rough handling, a common failure point on cheaper hooks.
  • Clevis Connection : Connects directly to the chain leg, eliminating the need for an intermediate connecting link.

3. Self-Locking Hooks (CRFX Series) Safety is automatic with Carcano.

  • Mechanism : The CRFX hook closes and locks automatically under load. The latch cannot be opened while the hook is under tension, preventing accidental disengagement.
  • Application : Mandatory on many construction sites for overhead lifting to prevent "roll-out."

4. Grab Hooks & Shorteners (CFX / CDFX)

  • Saddle Support : The CFX Grab Hook features a full-support saddle that cradles the chain link, reducing wear and maintaining 100% of the chain's Working Load Limit.
  • Foundry Hooks (CYFX) : Wide-throat hooks designed for fitting over large mold handles or trunnions where standard hooks won't fit.

Why Choose Carcano (Cartec)?

1. Italian Metallurgy Carcano controls the entire manufacturing process, from raw steel selection to forging and heat treatment. Their Grade 100 components are renowned for their consistent grain structure and resistance to hydrogen embrittlement.

2. Distinctive Visibility Cartec Grade 100 components are finished with a high-visibility Orange Powder Coat. This not only provides excellent corrosion resistance but also makes it easy for safety inspectors to identify the grade of the hardware from a distance (distinguishing it from red Grade 80 fittings).

3. Comprehensive Range From the smallest 7/32" fittings for light-duty lifts to 1-1/4" components for heavy construction, the Cartec system is modular and fully compatible with all standard Grade 100 alloy chains.

Technical Specifications

  • Grade: Grade 100 (Grade 10).
  • Safety Factor : 4:1 (Minimum Breaking Strength is 4 times the WLL).
