Lifting rings and lifting points mount to the load itself, not to the sling above it. Lifting rings are bolted or welded to a structure and present a load point for the hook or sling. Hoist rings take that further with a pivoting or swiveling shank that lets the ring align with the load path regardless of sling angle. Carcano Antonio SpA manufactures forged lifting rings and lifting points in alloy steel to EN 1677-1 (general conditions of acceptance for forged fittings) and ASME B30.26-2015 (rigging hardware).
Lifting rings and lifting points are the interface between a load and the rigging above it. Where a sling wraps around a load, the load is not designed for the contact pressure at the sling contact points. Where lifting rings or lifting points are threaded or welded into the load, the ring provides a controlled, rated connection point that keeps the load path predictable.
Carcano manufactures lifting rings as forged alloy steel components. The forging process produces consistent geometry and mechanical properties across the rated WLL range. Carcano lifting rings are manufactured to EN 1677-1, the general acceptance standard for forged fittings used in lifting assemblies.
In North American service, rigging hardware including lifting rings falls under ASME B30.26-2015 (Rigging Hardware). ASME B30.26-2015 covers design, marking, inspection, and use requirements for rigging hardware in overhead lifting service, including swivel hoist rings and other load attachment hardware.
Holloway Houston stocks Carcano lifting rings and lifting points in Houston for same-day shipping on in-stock configurations.
Round lifting rings are simple forged alloy rings threaded or welded onto a stud or pad that mounts to the load. The ring accepts the hook or sling above the load. These are common on fabricated equipment, machine components, and structural members where a permanent or semi-permanent lift point is required. WLL and manufacturer marking are stamped on the ring per EN 1677-1 and ASME B30.26-2015.
Swivel hoist rings mount on a threaded shank and allow the ring to rotate 360 degrees and pivot through a range of angles. This lets the ring align itself with the load path from the hook above, regardless of whether the hook is directly overhead. Swivel hoist rings are specified where the lift point cannot be positioned directly below the crane hook, or where the load is turned during the lift and the ring needs to move with it.
Lifting eye bolts thread into a tapped hole in the load. The eye at the top accepts the hook or sling. Standard eye bolts carry their WLL in vertical (in-line) loading through the eye, angular loading reduces the rated capacity per the manufacturer's data. Forged eye bolts from Carcano carry WLL markings and manufacturer identification per ASME B30.26-2015 requirements.
Oblong (egg-shaped) lifting rings have an elongated shape that gives the hook or connecting hardware more room to seat and move than a round ring. The oblong geometry is particularly suited to applications where the hook needs to swivel or the sling angle relative to the ring changes during the lift. These are commonly used at the top of multi-leg sling assemblies where the master ring collects the sling legs.

Carcano Antonio SpA is headquartered in Valmadrera, Lecco, Italy and manufactures the full range of EN 1677 forged fittings for lifting and sling hardware applications. The lifting ring and lifting point line extends their product range to load attachment hardware, the components that go onto the load itself rather than into the sling assembly above it.
Carcano exports products to North American markets through authorized distributors. Holloway Houston is the authorized North American distributor, stocking Carcano lifting rings and lifting points alongside hooks, master links, chain accessories, connecting links, and synthetic sling fittings.
Holloway Houston has been in the rigging and lifting business for over 65 years. As the authorized North American distributor for Carcano Antonio SpA, we stock lifting rings and lifting points alongside the full Carcano forged fitting line from our Houston, Texas warehouse.
Our rigging specialists can help match the right lifting ring type, WLL, and thread size to your load attachment requirements. In-stock Carcano lifting rings ship from Houston same-day. Manufacturer documentation and traceability paperwork come with every order.
Holloway Houston also offers rigging inspection services, our qualified inspectors examine lifting hardware per ASME B30.26-2015 and OSHA standards to keep your load attachment points in rated service.
Carcano lifting rings and lifting points fall under ASME B30.26-2015 (Rigging Hardware) in North American service. EN 1677-1 governs these components under the European standard system. OSHA 29 CFR 1926.251 (Rigging Equipment for Material Handling) references rigging hardware in jobsite lifting service.
Carcano lifting rings and lifting points are load-bearing rigging hardware. Selection, installation, and use call for engineering review consistent with ASME B30.26-2015 (Rigging Hardware) and applicable OSHA standards.
