When you need to keep sling legs spread and vertical, protecting a structurally sensitive load or hitting a tight head-room window, a spreader beam is the right tool. Peerless Industrial Group manufactures spreader beams for below-the-hook service in heavy fabrication, steel processing, petrochemical, and offshore applications. Holloway Houston carries Peerless spreader beams up to 220 tons WLL at our Houston, Texas facility.
A spreader beam connects to the crane through two sling legs, one attached to each end of the beam. This puts the beam in compression. The advantage over a standard bridle sling setup is that the beam keeps the sling legs spread at a fixed distance, the load sees no inward compressive force from angled slings, and the rigging geometry is repeatable lift after lift.
Peerless spreader beams are manufactured per ASME B30.20 (Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices) and stamped with the working load limit and manufacturer identification. Holloway Houston stocks Peerless spreader beams with WLL ratings up to 220 tons, covering the full range from light fabrication work to the heaviest industrial lifts.
Fixed spreader beams have set end-to-end dimensions. They work well in operations where the load width and pick point spacing are consistent from lift to lift. The fixed geometry means less setup time between picks and more predictable rigging.
Adjustable spreader beams allow the end fittings to slide along the beam body, changing the span between sling attachment points. This makes one beam usable across a range of load widths without changing hardware. Peerless adjustable models typically feature a mechanical locking mechanism that secures the end positions before the lift.
At the upper end of the Peerless spreader beam range, from 50 tons through 220 tons, the beams are engineered for steel mill, offshore, and heavy industrial applications. At these capacities, the beam sections are heavier, the end fittings are larger-bore shackle connections, and proof testing becomes part of the delivery package.

Peerless Industrial Group is a US manufacturer headquartered in Winona, Minnesota, and part of the pewag Group since 2019. Peerless has a long history producing lifting and rigging hardware, chains, below-the-hook devices, and material handling products, for industrial markets across North America.
Peerless spreader beams are engineered for below-the-hook service and manufactured to ASME B30.20. Each beam is stamped with the working load limit and comes with documentation. Holloway Houston is an authorized Peerless distributor with inventory on hand in Houston.
Holloway Houston has served the rigging and lifting industry from Houston, Texas for over 65 years. We stock Peerless below-the-hook equipment including spreader beams, lifting beams, coil lifters, and pallet lifters. Our rigging specialists understand beam selection, sling configuration, and crane interface requirements.
Holloway Houston offers rigging inspection services, our qualified inspectors examine below-the-hook lifting devices per ASME B30.20 and OSHA standards to keep equipment in service and crews working safely.
Working Load Limit: The rated WLL needs to account for the total load including rigging hardware and any dynamic factors in the lift. Every Peerless spreader beam is stamped with the WLL per ASME B30.20.
Span Between Pick Points: The distance between sling attachment points at each end of the beam determines the rigging geometry at the crane hook. This distance needs to match the sling leg length and head room available.
Fixed vs. Adjustable: Fixed-span beams suit operations with consistent load geometry. Adjustable beams serve facilities where load width changes regularly.
Upper Sling Attachment: The sling legs that connect the beam to the crane hook need to have the right WLL and length to work with the beam's attachment points. This is part of the overall rigging assembly design.
