What are Round Slings used for?

A round sling is a continuous loop of synthetic fiber yarn inside a protective cover, with no exposed stitching to fail. Holloway Houston manufactures its round sling line in-house, and the endless-loop construction lets one sling be rigged as a vertical hitch, choker, or basket.

How does sling angle affect the rated capacity of a Round Sling?

As the angle between a multi-leg sling and vertical increases, the load on each leg increases even though the total weight stays the same. Sling tags for angled configurations already reflect a rated capacity at specified angles, and manufacturer documentation is the source for the exact figures at a given working angle rather than a single number that applies to every rig.

What is the working load limit of Round Slings?

Holloway Houston manufactures round slings across a range of sizes, each with its own rated capacity shown on the tag - core yarn material, cover construction, and hitch type (vertical, choker, basket) all factor into that number, so there isn't a single WLL for the whole line.

How should Round Slings be inspected before use?

Inspection for round slings typically covers cuts, abrasion, broken stitching or fibers, corrosion, and tag legibility before each use, alongside a periodic documented inspection. A sling showing wear against the manufacturer's removal criteria is normally pulled from service. Because the load-bearing yarn is inside the cover, a cut or worn cover is treated as a reason to inspect further even when the yarn itself isn't visibly damaged.
